Most US dollar deposits to Uphold are instant: ACH from a linked bank, plus card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, and Venmo deposits. Wires and direct deposits to your USD Unique Account take up to 2 business days, longer the first time you send from a new bank. Crypto deposits are credited only after enough block confirmations and Uphold’s compliance checks, which takes seconds on fast networks and about an hour for bitcoin. If a crypto deposit never arrives, the usual causes are an unsupported coin or network, a missing tag or memo, missing Travel Rule details from the sending exchange, or an amount below Uphold’s minimum.
This guide covers deposit times and limits for every method, why deposits get held or lost, how to track one down, and what Uphold can and can’t do. It’s based on Uphold’s help center, fee page, and US user agreement, checked on October 2, 2026.
How long Uphold deposits take
| Deposit method | Fee | When it’s available | Limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| ACH from a bank linked through Plaid | Free | Instant for trading | $7,500 a day, $7,500 a week, $30,000 a month |
| ACH from a bank linked by micro-deposits | Free | Instant for trading | $2,000 a day, $2,000 a week, $8,000 a month |
| Wire or direct deposit to your USD Unique Account | $10 under $2,000; free from $2,000 | Up to 2 business days; longer for a first transfer | Unlimited |
| Debit or credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay | 3.99% | Instant | $15,000 a day, $15,000 a week, $50,000 a month, per method |
| PayPal or Venmo | 2.5% into USD; 2.99% into other assets | Instant | $800 a day, $2,000 a week, $8,000 a month |
| Crypto | No Uphold fee; network fees may apply | Seconds to a few hours | Minimum about $0.01; no maximum |
Bank, card, PayPal, and Venmo deposits have a $10 minimum. ACH deposits can be traded right away but have to settle with your bank before you can withdraw them, which typically takes up to 5 business days; see Uphold withdrawal pending.
Crypto confirmation times by network
Uphold credits a crypto deposit “once a minimum number of on-chain block confirmations are completed” and its compliance checks are done. Its minimum times for popular networks:
| Network | Confirmations Uphold requires | Minimum time to credit |
|---|---|---|
| Bitcoin | 3 | 30 minutes |
| Ethereum | 1 | 13 seconds |
| Solana | 1 | 1 second |
| XRP Ledger | 6 | 30 seconds |
| Stellar | 1 | 5 seconds |
| Tron | 1 | 3 seconds |
| Polygon | 200 | 6.6 minutes |
| Base | 12 | 24 seconds |
| Arbitrum | 12 | 12 seconds |
| BNB Smart Chain | 3 | 3 seconds |
| Litecoin | 6 | 15 minutes |
| Dogecoin | 40 | 40 minutes |
| Cardano | 15 | 5 minutes |
| Hedera | 1 | 5 seconds |
Uphold’s clock “begins only after your deposit has been added to a block.” Network traffic and the fee the sender paid can delay that, and Uphold says these aren’t reflected in its estimates. Problems clearing compliance checks can slow a deposit further.
Why your Uphold deposit hasn’t arrived
US dollar deposits
- It’s a wire or direct deposit. Those take up to 2 business days, more for a first transfer from a new bank. Uphold’s agreement notes that transfers falling on a weekend, a holiday, or after bank hours may be processed the next business day.
- The names don’t match. For wires and direct deposits, the bank account you send from must be in the same name as your Uphold account, except for paycheck deposits.
- Your bank link is still being verified. Banks linked by micro-deposits are verified automatically within one or two business days, or you must confirm the amounts within one business day. If you don’t, Uphold may cancel the link.
- Your Plaid link broke. Changing your bank password or an expired connection can unlink the account; Uphold prompts you to reconnect on your next ACH deposit. In your first 90 days you can only link one bank account.
- It was held for review. Uphold says that “very occasionally, deposits may be temporarily held for review” and that it lets you know right away.
- It bounced. If your bank account didn’t have enough money, Uphold can try the ACH up to twice, then cancel or reverse the deposit and take back any amount already credited.
- You’re in New York. Uphold says you “can’t deposit additional fiat directly into your account while located in New York.”
Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, and Venmo
- A declined card: check the card details and balance, and that your card allows online payments. Since July 31, 2024, Visa cards used for US transactions must be issued in the US. Apple Pay and Google Pay accept Visa, Mastercard, and Discover, for individuals only.
- PayPal: only US and UK accounts work, the PayPal name must match your Uphold name, and credit cards inside PayPal aren’t supported. “We couldn’t process your transaction” usually means the funding source doesn’t have enough money.
- Venmo: US only. Two failed Venmo deposits within 30 minutes automatically unlink it.
Crypto deposits
- The coin or network isn’t supported. Only Tier 3 assets can be deposited from an outside wallet; Tier 4 assets can’t. Uphold warns: “Deposits of unsupported crypto-assets or transfers made to incompatible addresses may be permanently lost. Uphold cannot recover or return these funds.” Each deposit address only works for one asset on one network.
- The tag or memo is missing. These networks need one: XRP Ledger (XRP, SOLO, COREUM, RLUSD), Stellar (XLM, USDC, VELO), Hedera (HBAR), TON (GRAM, USDT), and Canton (CC).
- It was below the minimum. Uphold doesn’t process crypto deposits worth less than USD 0.0095. Its agreement says these “will not appear in your transaction history, and will not be recoverable.”
- The sending exchange left out Travel Rule details. When you deposit from another exchange, it should send your name and other required details. If they’re missing, Uphold says the deposit may “remain pending until the required information is provided” or be rejected. From your own wallet, you may be asked to confirm sender details or prove the wallet is yours.
- The address was typed wrong. Uphold notes that addresses on some networks, such as XRP Ledger, are case-sensitive, so copy and paste them instead of typing.
- Your deposit address changed. Uphold occasionally updates deposit addresses and says it always tells you by email or an in-app banner. Copy a fresh address each time.
- There’s a network or Uphold problem. Recent deposit incidents on Uphold’s status page include a Google Pay outage on September 16, 2026 and a crypto deposit and withdrawal disruption on July 23, 2026.
XRP and XLM: unique addresses vs. tags
Uphold now gives each customer a unique XRP address and a unique XLM address. Send to yours and the deposit goes to your XRP or XLM account automatically, even with a wrong or missing tag. Two rules apply:
- Only the native coin. Your unique address accepts only XRP or XLM. Other tokens on those networks, such as RLUSD, SOLO, or USDC, “will be automatically rejected.”
- A 1 XRP or 1 XLM minimum applies to the first deposit, which activates the address. Anything smaller fails.
Uphold’s older shared address with a tag still works for now, but it says the old format will be phased out and a wrong tag may stop your deposit from being credited.
How to track down a missing Uphold deposit
- Check the method’s normal time in the tables above.
- For crypto, look up the transaction hash on a block explorer. Confirm it went to your current Uphold address, on the right network, with the right tag or memo.
- Check status.uphold.com (opens in a new tab) for problems with deposits or that network.
- Look for a request in the app. If Uphold needs Travel Rule details or proof of wallet ownership, it asks in the app, and the deposit waits until you answer.
- Open a support ticket through Help → My Tickets in the app or the webforms at support.uphold.com, with the transaction hash, coin, network, amount, and address. Uphold says it replies within 24 hours.
Don’t worry if a block explorer still shows coins sitting at your deposit address after Uphold credits you. Uphold says that’s normal because it moves funds out of deposit addresses on its own schedule. Those addresses are deposit-only, so always withdraw from inside the app.
Can Uphold recover a lost deposit?
Usually not. Uphold says it “cannot recover or return” unsupported assets or deposits sent to incompatible addresses. Its user agreement says such assets are “effectively lost” and “treated as property of Uphold,” and that Uphold doesn’t have to try to recover them “unless it decides to do so in its sole and absolute discretion.” For a missing tag or memo on its old shared XRP or XLM address, Uphold asks you to contact support for help.

Frequently asked questions
How long does an Uphold deposit take?
ACH deposits from a linked bank and card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, and Venmo deposits are available instantly. Wires and direct deposits to your USD Unique Account take up to 2 business days, longer for a first transfer from a new bank. Crypto deposits take from seconds to a few hours, depending on the network.
Why is my Uphold deposit pending?
A crypto deposit may still be waiting for block confirmations or compliance checks, or for Travel Rule details from the sending exchange. Uphold also says that, very occasionally, a bank deposit is held for review, and that it tells you right away when that happens.
Why hasn't my crypto deposit shown up on Uphold?
Common causes are a coin or network Uphold doesn't support, a missing destination tag or memo, an amount below Uphold's minimum, missing Travel Rule information, or a network problem. Check the transaction on a block explorer and Uphold's status page, then open a missing-deposit support ticket.
Does Uphold need a destination tag for XRP?
Not if you send to your unique Uphold XRP address, which credits your XRP account automatically; your first deposit to it must be at least 1 XRP. If you use Uphold's older shared address, you must include the destination tag or the deposit may not be credited.
What happens if I send an unsupported coin to Uphold?
Uphold says deposits of unsupported crypto, or to incompatible addresses, may be permanently lost, and that it can't recover or return them. Its user agreement says such assets are treated as Uphold's property unless it chooses to help.
What are Uphold's deposit limits?
For banks linked through Plaid: $7,500 a day and week and $30,000 a month. For banks linked by micro-deposits: $2,000 a day and week and $8,000 a month. Cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay: $15,000 a week and $50,000 a month each. PayPal and Venmo: $800 a day. Wires are unlimited.
Why was my Uphold card or Venmo deposit declined?
Check your card details and balance and that the card allows online payments. Visa cards used in the US must be issued in the US. For PayPal and Venmo, the account name must match your Uphold account, and Venmo unlinks automatically after two failed deposits within 30 minutes.
