Crypto.com says identity verification “may take anywhere from a few hours to a couple of business days,” and to contact support through in-app chat if your status hasn’t changed within 3 business days. If your app says Verification Incomplete (what most people mean by “unsuccessful”), something in your application didn’t pass, usually a name that doesn’t match your ID, an ID photo with glare or cut-off corners, or a selfie that moved too much. Tap Resubmit and redo the ID and photo steps; if the electronic ID check fails twice, you’ll have to finish with a manual ID scan. US users must use a state-issued driver’s license or state ID, and Crypto.com isn’t available in New York.
This guide covers how long verification takes, what US users must submit, what each status means, why checks fail, and how to fix them. It covers the Crypto.com App; the Crypto.com Exchange has a separate verification flow. It’s based on Crypto.com’s help center and US terms, checked on October 2, 2026.
How long Crypto.com verification takes
Crypto.com’s main KYC page says verification “is a case-by-case process and may take anywhere from a few hours to a couple of business days,” depending on your country, nationality, and the quality of your photos. If your status hasn’t changed after 3 business days, contact support through in-app chat.
Another Crypto.com page is less optimistic: “most applications are being processed in 3 - 4 days,” and because of high demand, “some KYC reviews are taking approximately 7 business days.” Crypto.com emails you when the review is done.
Crypto.com verification statuses
| Status in the app | What Crypto.com says it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Verification Pending | “Your application is pending our team’s review” | Wait; contact chat after 3 business days |
| Verification Incomplete | “An issue occurred with one or more of the above-listed elements in your application and we need you to repeat the process” | Tap Resubmit and redo the ID and photo steps |
| Your Verification is Approved | “Your verification is complete” | You’re done |
Crypto.com’s help center doesn’t use the word “unsuccessful” for any status, and it doesn’t publish a detailed list of rejection reasons beyond the Incomplete description. The Crypto.com Exchange uses different labels (“Verify Now” and “Pending”).
What US users need to verify on Crypto.com
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| Age and location | 18 or older, and not living in New York |
| Email and phone | Confirm your email, then enter the 6-digit SMS code sent to your phone |
| Full legal name | Exactly as it appears on your ID |
| Photo ID | US citizens and residents are “required to submit their state-issued driver’s license or ID” |
| Selfie | A short liveness check using your phone’s camera |
| For the USD Account | Your Social Security number and residential address; you may also have to upload a proof of address |
| Tax certification | Crypto.com’s US terms have you certify that you’re a US person and that your tax ID number is correct |
Account opening happens “exclusively through the Crypto.com app,” so don’t send documents by email or chat. Documents must be in English or come with a certified translation, and your phone must meet Crypto.com’s requirements: not jailbroken, and running iOS 15 or later or Android 8.0 or later.
Crypto.com verifies identities because, like other US money transmitters, it must run an anti-money-laundering program that includes “verifying customer identification,” as FinCEN puts it.
Why Crypto.com verification fails or gets stuck
Your name doesn’t match your ID
“Make sure that the name you type is the same as the one on the document you provide. If the document uses abbreviations or initials, please use your full names instead. Make sure there are no spelling mistakes.”
The ID photo isn’t clear
Take the photo “in a well-lit environment,” with “all four corners of the document” visible and no reflections. Turn off your phone’s flashlight. If scanning keeps failing, Crypto.com suggests trying the manual upload option instead.
The selfie check failed
“Hold the camera steady and follow the green dot with your eyes […] without turning your head.” The check records video as well as photos.
The electronic ID check failed twice
“If you fail the eID verification twice, you will only be able to complete verification via manual ID scan.”
Your proof of address was rejected
Crypto.com accepts these documents, issued within the last 6 months:
- a utility bill
- a letter from a government department or agency
- a statement or letter from a bank, financial institution, or authorized insurer (mask the number on a credit card statement)
- a valid government ID
Capture the full document “with all four corners,” unaltered except for masked account or card numbers, and hold your phone vertically, in portrait mode.
You live in New York, or Crypto.com declined you
Crypto.com’s app “is currently available in 49 states” and US territories; New York is excluded. Its terms also let it refuse an application “in our sole discretion and without providing reasons.”
How to resubmit Crypto.com verification
- Open the Crypto.com app and check your verification status.
- Tap Resubmit if it says Verification Incomplete.
- Re-enter your full legal name exactly as it appears on your ID, with no initials or abbreviations.
- Retake the ID photo in good light, flash off, all four corners visible. Use manual upload if scanning fails.
- Retake the selfie, holding the phone steady and following the green dot with your eyes.
- Wait up to 3 business days. If it fails 2-3 times with no word from Crypto.com, contact support through in-app chat.
Crypto.com asks you not to send personal information it didn’t request, including extra photos, scans, or PDFs.
“Verification failed” errors that aren’t about your ID
- Passkey verification failed. Passkeys work on iOS 16 or later and Android 9 or later. You can dismiss the passkey prompt and choose another method under Verification Options. Passkeys can also fail during outages: on February 25, 2026, Crypto.com’s status page told users to use another sign-in method while it fixed a passkey problem.
- The SMS code didn’t arrive. Contact chat.crypto.com with your phone number, including the country code, and your mobile carrier.
- Crypto.com Web couldn’t verify you. You’ll be asked to finish registration in the Crypto.com App.
- Support asked for an ID and a video. That’s Crypto.com’s customer authentication, used after sign-up. The secure upload link arrives at your registered email or by SMS.
Crypto.com Exchange users verify differently, with a photo of yourself holding a handwritten note that says “Crypto.com” and the date. Verifying on the Exchange also verifies your App account.
If you’ve been targeted, see where to report a scam.

Frequently asked questions
How long does Crypto.com verification take?
Crypto.com says it may take anywhere from a few hours to a couple of business days, depending on factors such as your country, nationality, and photo quality. Another of its help pages says most applications take 3-4 days and some about 7 business days when demand is high.
Why does Crypto.com say my verification is incomplete or unsuccessful?
Verification Incomplete means an issue occurred with one or more parts of your application, such as your name, ID photo, or selfie, and you need to repeat the process. Tap Resubmit and redo the ID and photo steps. Crypto.com's help center doesn't separately define an "unsuccessful" status.
What ID does Crypto.com accept from US users?
Crypto.com says US citizens and residents are required to submit a state-issued driver's license or state ID, along with a selfie. The details you type must match the ID exactly, using your full names rather than initials.
Does Crypto.com require a Social Security number?
Yes, to open the USD Account, which needs your SSN and residential address. Crypto.com's US terms also have you certify that you're a US person and that the tax ID number you gave is correct.
What proof of address does Crypto.com accept?
A utility bill, a letter from a government department or agency, a statement or letter from a bank, financial institution, or authorized insurer (mask any card number), or a valid government ID, issued within the last 6 months. Capture the whole document in portrait mode with all four corners visible.
How many times can I resubmit Crypto.com verification?
Crypto.com doesn't publish a hard limit. If your resubmission fails 2-3 times with no word from Crypto.com, use the in-app chat. If the electronic ID check fails twice, you can only finish with a manual ID scan.
Is Crypto.com available in New York?
No. Crypto.com says its app is available in 49 states and US territories, with New York the exception, and its US terms prohibit access from New York.
